Herman Mold + Tooling is a local, Fairfield, Iowa, company that manufactures aluminum molds used to make plastic products. We have been in business for 37 years serving the Fairfield community. Our molds produce products for a variety of industries including construction, agriculture equipment, automotive, lawn and garden, and more...

We are looking for a skilled manual machinist to join the team. This position requires great manual dexterity and technical knowledge to be able to work with a variety of materials, tools, and machinery in the production of aluminum molds and steel cutting.

Applicant should have experience with manual lathes and mills. CNC machine experience is a plus but not required. The machinist should be able to work well with team members and produce quality work in a timely fashion.

Responsibilities:

  • Read and interpret blueprints to make parts per print
  • Uses lathes and mills to construct parts
  • Monitors machines while working to adjust the feed and maintain temperatures
  • Regularly performs routine machine maintenance

Competencies:

  • Proficient with measuring instruments such as tape measures, micrometers, calipers, rulers, scribes, and geometric dimensions and tolerances
  • Knowledge/experience or familiar with Bridgeport Ez-trak, Autodesk Fusion or other related CAM software
  • Strong attention to detail with the ability to maintain accuracy and precision throughout the machining process.
  • Good communication with the ability to work as part of a team and collaborate effectively with engineers, mold makers, and other staff
  • Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to troubleshoot and resolve issues as they arise
